I'm re-reading JRR Tolkien's the Hobbit, inspired by the new Rings of Power on Netflix. There's a quote that exactly captures the feeling with which I'm leaving my comfortable predictable live and going on a grand adventure for the next month.
Bilbo is sitting in his comfortable Hobbit hole, feeling very respectable and wanting nothing of adventure. Some unexpected events and special people come into his life that widen his perspective and something changes for him. A moment happens that allows him to connect to a world of possibilities he never dared imagine for himself, and something fundamental shifts...
“...something Tookish woke up inside him, and he wished to go and see the great mountains, and hear the pine-trees and the waterfalls, and explore the caves, and wear a sword instead of a walking-stick.”
This is exactly the spirit that compelled me to embark on this journey. In honor of a great writer who knew how to write what I felt 85 years before I felt it, I'm naming by blog Feeling Tookish (and taking an extra pocket handkerchief).
As a fan of Tolkien, love the name. Can't wait to read your "There and Back Again"
