Rush hour in Kyoto

The trains have been a great way to get around, so this is atypical, but this is what happens when trains are delayed for almost an hour, due to a car/bridge accident.

I did notice after standing in a sea of humanity for an extended period of time that I am of above average height for a woman in Japan. First time in my life I've been tall!

As the train was waiting, someone would rush up, see it and jump on, trying to catch the train 'before it left', not knowing we were just waiting. Every time someone got on, I thought, I now we're full. And more people just kept coming. It was like a clown car in reverse.

The last guy on literally turned around, and pushed his butt in, until the crowd moved enough fire the rest of his body to follow.

The trains have been exceptionally on time. And generally personal space is extremely respected. Even in crowds, it's as if everyone moves in their own private bubble. Just not on the train in rush hour...
